Salt makes food yummy, but too much salt is not good for our health. It can raise blood pressure and hurt our hearts. We all know we should eat less salt, but food without salt can taste bland. What can we do?
Here’s a cool idea! Meet the Electric Salt Spoon! This spoon makes food taste salty without adding any salt. A company from Japan called Kirin Holdings has created this spoon.
How does it work?
The spoon has a battery and two special parts called electrodes. One is in the handle, and one is in the spoon's bowl (the part you use to scoop food).
When you hold the spoon and put it in your mouth to eat food, it completes a circuit. This makes a small electric current that brings out the saltiness in the food. You don’t add any salt, but your food tastes salty.
The spoon has buttons to choose how salty you want your food. There are four settings!
However, you need to hold the spoon tightly for it to work. If you don’t hold it right, it won’t work. A light on the handle will show you if you’re holding it the correct way.
Also, people with pacemakers or people who can have seizures should not use this spoon as it can make them feel sick or cause problems.
