<h5>Huh? Video by Boston Dynamics.</figcaption></figure></div><p>HD Atlas, the hydraulic version of BD’s famous humanoid robot that had amazed everyone with its outdoor running, dancing, and backflips, has been retired by the company. It has been retired so that newer and advanced models can take its place.</p><p>Hydraulic robots are those that use liquids like oil to function and can do heavy tasks.</p><p>When robots are usually retired, companies can recycle their parts, donate them to a lab, etc. So, what fate will HD Atlas meet? The company says the robot will be placed in its office lobby museum with other decommissioned robots.</p><h5>Importance of Atlas.</h5><p>The retired robot’s first version was unveiled in 2013 and was created as part of a US military robotics competition. It was developed to help in search and rescue missions after disasters.</p><p>The later versions were not made for the government and helped study full-body mobility and explore what was possible in robotics. BD says the new Atlas model is stronger and has a wider range of motion than the previous Atlas models.</p><p>The new robot has rotating body parts that allow for improved movement capabilities, which will help the robot complete various tasks efficiently.</p><p>BD also has plans to create a robot that can handle dirty and dangerous tasks, like handling toxic chemicals, working in mines, etc.</p>
