The invisibility cloak.

Imagine if you could disappear like Harry Potter with his magical invisibility cloak! Well, scientists in China are working on something that can do something similar, but with real science.

A team of researchers from the University of Electronic Science and Technology in China made a special material that can make things invisible, just like a chameleon blends into its surroundings.

How does it work?

This special material changes when it is exposed to light. It has a clever trick! The molecules inside the material can move and change colour, just like a chameleon or an octopus. When it is placed in different colours, it changes to match them and becomes invisible to the eye.

The scientists tested the material by putting it inside boxes of different colours. In just 30 to 80 seconds, the material perfectly blended in and became invisible.

Use of this technology.

This cool technology might be used in fashion to create clothes that change colour or even help the military hide better with camouflage.

But, the scientists say there’s still more to do before it’s perfect. They're working on making it even better! This is just the beginning of a new, exciting technology!
