Is cockroach milk the new superfood?

A study found that cockroach milk gives three times more energy than buffalo milk. Because of this, scientists think it could be the next superfood.

Cockroach milk is a yellow liquid that forms crystals inside baby cockroaches. This milk comes from the Pacific beetle cockroach. This cockroach is special because it gives birth to live babies instead of laying eggs.

Cockroach milk is full of nutrients. It has all nine essential amino acids, which we usually find in meat. It also has fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals.

What are superfoods?

Superfoods are foods that are very healthy. They have many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Some examples of superfoods are blueberries, salmon, kale, and acai.

Antioxidants may protect us from diseases like cancer by reducing harmful substances in our bodies. Fat-rich foods like salmon may prevent heart disease. High-fiber foods like kale can help us digest food better.

However, some scientists say that "superfood" is just a word used to sell products. Superfoods cannot replace a healthy diet but can add to it.

Can people drink cockroach milk?

Scientists are still studying if cockroach milk is safe for people. They need to check if it is safe for pregnant women, children, and people with allergies.

Even though cockroach milk production needs less land and water than cow milk, it is still not easy to produce a lot of it. This is because it takes 1,000 cockroaches to make only 100 grams of milk.

Many people may not want to drink cockroach milk. Also, scientists say it does not taste very good. Both these factors may stop people from trying it.
