A company from China called DeepSeek is making a lot of noise in the world of artificial intelligence (AI). DeepSeek started in Hangzhou a few years ago and wanted to build a very smart AI called artificial general intelligence (AGI).
Right now, DeepSeek doesn't have AGI, but it has made something really cool – a chatbot! This chatbot became the most downloaded free app on the Apple store in January!
People who have used love it have loved its performance. DeepSeek spent only $6 million to create its AI, which is much less than what US companies spend on their AI tools.
About DeepSeek-R1.
DeepSeek’s new AI is called DeepSeek-R1. It’s like ChatGPT, but the best part is – it’s free! Anyone can use it or even make their own version of it!
DeepSeek-R1 can:
- Answer hard questions (it may take a little time).
- Search the internet for answers.
- Solve puzzles and give summaries of documents.
Some experts say DeepSeek-R1 is even better than ChatGPT in some tests! And unlike some other AI tools, DeepSeek-R1 is free to use, which makes it very popular.
A small problem.
Even though DeepSeek-R1 works well, it doesn’t talk about some things related to China. For example, if you ask about Tiananmen Square, where a huge protest happened years ago, it won’t answer.
