<h5>Diplomatic drama in the sea</h5><p>Recently, the US Navy showed off a small part of its arsenal in the Norwegian Sea. It included a nuclear-powered ballistic submarine, a guided missile cruiser, and two naval aircraft.</p><p>The submarine, called USS Tennessee (SSBN 734), is capable of carrying twenty nuclear missiles! One of the aircraft spotted is codenamed E-6B Mercury and is capable of providing nuclear command, control and communications to the US President.</p><p>What's even crazier is that this plane, called the 'doomsday plane,' can relay messages from the National Command Authority to nearby ships to carry out tasks and missions. Photo by U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet.</figcaption></figure><h5>What are they doing in the Norwegian Sea?</h5><p>The US Navy hasn’t revealed the mission or purpose of these vessels and aircraft being hundreds of kilometres away from home, keeping everyone guessing.</p><p>A few days ago, a Russian nuclear submarine and three other ships were spotted near the coast of Florida (a state in the US), heading to Cuba.</p><p>It seems the US Navy is showing off its own naval prowess near Russian territory to let Russia know they can retaliate if Russia attacks the US or its allies.</p><h5>A different kind of war!</h5><p>While some wars are fought with guns, tanks, bombs, etc., some are fought psychologically. The goal is to intimidate the enemy.</p><p>Usually, countries keep their military movements secret. But this deliberate show of military assets by the US and Russia is a way to send a message.</p><p>With the ongoing tensions due to the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/the-conflict-between-russia-and-ukraine">Russia-Ukraine war</a> and other issues, both nations are making it clear they won't back down from a fight.</p><p>Let’s hope no more wars break out; the world needs peace, not more conflict!</p>
