A deadly earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 hit the Paktika Province in Afghanistan on 22nd June 2022. It killed more than one thousand people and injured another fifteen hundred people. It destroyed entire villages in the province, shattered hundreds of homes, wrecked roads and broke cell phone towers. This is the deadliest earthquake to hit Afghanistan in twenty years.

Oh no, are the victims receiving any help?

Yes, lots. Though many countries don’t agree with the Taliban’s methods of running a country, they are not letting that stop them from helping the Afghan people in their time of need.

India and Pakistan are sending relief materials. South Korea will give $1 million. Japan will also provide monetary help. The United Nations (UN) is also sending many health workers, relief materials, medical supplies, and food to the earthquake zone.

How are the Afghan people facing this disaster?
