<h5>Water scarcity affects everyone.</h5><p>Water is very important for all living things. In many parts of Karnataka, the temperature has reached up to 40 degrees Celsius.</p><p>This has caused many water resources to dry up. There are long lines of people waiting for water from taps and tankers, while some are even digging deep into the ground to find water.</p><p>Humans can overcome such situations, but animals have a harder time. They often struggle to find water and quench their thirst. Fortunately, there are kind people who provide water for them.</p><h5>Farmer’s act saves animals!</h5><figure class="image"><img src="https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/newsahoot.appspot.com/o/farmer-helps-out-thirsty-animals%2FAnimal.jpg?alt=media&amp;token=ea29106a-2a7a-4e8a-aab7-3f4d5bb0b11e"><figcaption>Animals drinking water. Photo by The New Indian Express.</figcaption></figure><p>Meet Govind Gundappa Gundkal, a 62-year-old farmer from Masalikatti village in Karnataka’s Dharwad district. He has been pumping water from his borewell to a dry stream in his village to help animals.</p><p>Although he has been doing this for three years, he doesn't seek fame.</p><p>He stated that he supplies water to the stream for almost four months a year and has ten pipes connected from the borewell to the stream. He supplies water for almost four hours every day.</p><h5>What made Govind do this?</h5><p>Govind reported that he used to take his cattle to the stream next to his farm until the stream went dry three years ago. He started using water from his borewell for his cattle.</p><p>Then he saw other animals coming to the stream and leaving disappointed, looking at the dry stream. For this reason, he started pumping water from his borewell into the stream.</p><p>Sugarcane Growers’ Association district secretary Parusuram Yattinguda said they congratulated Govind after learning about his good deed. Parusuram reported that as many as 700 cattle heads in the village are dependent on the stream in the summer.</p><p>Govind is committed to this noble cause and believes that nature belongs to everyone, not just humans.</p>
