<h5>What is FIFA?</h5>  <p>Fédération Internationale de Football Association or FIFA is an international organisation that controls important football events all over the world! It was founded in 1904 and its headquarters are located in Zurich, Switzerland.
The football associations of 211 different countries are members of FIFA. All members have to follow the rules that have been set by FIFA. Recently, India’s association called the All India Football Federation (AIFF) was suspended by FIFA.
</p> <h5>Why did FIFA suspend the AIFF?</h5>  <p>Most organisations are led by a group. AIFF is also the same. Praful Patel was the head of the AIFF for a long time. In 2020, AIFF had to elect a new head. But, Patel did not allow elections to happen.
The Supreme Court of India (SC) wanted the elections to be held. It removed Patel from his job after they saw that elections were not being conducted. They appointed another group of people to look after the AIFF.</p>
<p>FIFA rules say that others cannot interfere with the work being done by their members (like the AIFF). FIFA felt that the group appointed by the SC was interfering with AIFF. So, they suspended AIFF. 
</p> <h5>What does FIFA suspending the AIFF mean for India?</h5> <figure>

      </figure> <p>On 16th August 2022, FIFA suspended AIFF. Due to this, Indian football teams won’t be able to take part in international matches. This is sad news for our footballers who have been training so hard to play for India.
Due to this suspension, India will no longer be able to conduct the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in October this year. 
</p> <h5>Will this suspension ever be lifted?</h5>  <p>The Government is already working with FIFA so that this suspension can be removed as soon as possible. 
After the suspension is removed, India will be able to host the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? </p>
