<h5>Who are the Agniveers?</h5><p>Remember the Agnipath scheme launched by the Indian government in 2022? The scheme that caused a lot of controversies and protests? The Indian government launched this scheme to recruit young people for the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian Armed Forces consist of three branches: the Army, the Navy, and Air Force.</p><p>Each year, 46,000 to 50,000 men and women between the ages of 17.5 and 21 will be recruited through this scheme. These recruits are called Agniveers. Agniveers will serve four years in the military. This includes a six-month training phase. After four years, most Agniveers must quit the Armed Forces and return to civilian life.</p><p>Along with regular salary, they will receive a lump sum payment of Rs. 11.71 lakhs at the end of their four-year service period. They will not receive an additional pension or financial advantages.</p><p>Many thought the scheme would be a failure. But, many youngsters did sign up. Recently, the first batch of Agniveers completed their training.</p><h5>Where did the first batch of Agniveers complete their training from?</h5><div class="raw-html-embed"><video width="100%" controls=""> <source src="https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/newsahoot.appspot.com/o/first-batch-of-agniveers-graduates%2Fpassingout-parade-of-the-first-agniveer-batch.mp4?alt=media&amp;token=a0113a41-fced-4a16-bb0e-92800ca8011c" type="video/mp4"> </video></div><p>The first batch of 2585 naval Agniveers, including 272 women, graduated recently from an Indian Navy training facility in Odisha. Their passing-out parade took place at INS Chilka in Odisha. Naval Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar attended the passing out parade.</p><p>The parade was held after sunset for the first time. Passing out parades are traditionally held in the morning. These Agniveers would now be deployed on warships for sea training. The training at INS Chilka included academic, service, and outdoor training.</p><h5>What benefits will Agniveers receive?</h5><p>Agniveers will receive salaries from the government. They will also be insured in case any harm happens to them. Agniveers can apply for permanent jobs in the armed forces after four years of service. Up to 25% of them will be selected for such jobs. Sufficient re-employment opportunities will be provided for the remaining 75%.</p><p>Many states, such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, etc., have announced that they will prefer Agniveers in police recruitment. The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that Agniveers would be given preference in recruitment to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and Assam Rifles.</p><p>In addition, after their short-term military duty, Agniveers will get skill certificates to help in future endeavours. During service, an Agniveer will be eligible for medical care. They will be given 30 days of yearly leave along with sick leaves as advised by doctors.</p><p>As the first batch of Agniveers graduates, we can now look forward to seeing the potential benefits this scheme can bring to our country.</p>
