What is a vehicle scrapping facility?

A vehicle scrapping facility is where old, unwanted or broken vehicles are disassembled. They separate the parts of the cars for recycling or resale. The hazardous materials are removed and thrown away. The remaining parts are categorised and sold. The shell of the vehicle is scrapped and turned into new metal.
Vehicle scrapping helps in reducing old vehicles on the road. Since those vehicles generally use older technology, they pollute the environment more than new vehicles. So, indirectly vehicle scrapping also helps in reducing pollution.
Does India have a vehicle scrapping policy?

The Indian government started a vehicle scrapping policy to remove old and unsafe cars from the roads. The policy aims to slowly remove unsuitable and polluting vehicles to lessen the country's carbon footprint.
People who scrap their old vehicles are given discounts on purchasing new vehicles. Sometimes, state governments also reduce the new vehicle’s road tax and waive registration fees.
Generally, the government must ensure that the country's people know the advantages of scrapping their vehicles. But we must also do our part and educate the people around us.
