Decillion? Is that even a word?!
A decillion is a HUGE number! In the American way, it’s a 1 with 33 zeros after it (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000). In Europe, it’s even bigger, with 60 zeros! Can you believe that?!
Now, imagine if you had 2.5 decillion dosas. You could pile them up and cover all of India - many times! You would have thousands of dosas for everyone, and even if you ate hundreds every second, you’d still have lots left! That’s how big 2.5 decillion is!
In money terms, $2.5 decillion is so much that counting it would take years! You could buy everything - countries, buildings, anything you can think of - and still have a ton of money left over!
Google fined $2.5 decillion!
Here’s something surprising: Google was fined $2.5 decillion by a Russian court! Why? Because Google wouldn’t let some pro-Russian and state-run media outlets back on YouTube.
Russia has been giving Google daily fines for blocking these channels for the past few years. Over time, these fines grew and grew until they reached this crazy amount!
YouTube, owned by Google, blocked Russian media for supporting the Ukraine invasion. In response, Russia fined YouTube. The court also claimed the company’s action violated free speech.
Will Google pay the fine?
Nope! Google doesn’t have an office in Russia because it closed its Russian division in 2022. Plus, no company has that much money to pay such a big fine!
This fine also shows how Russia and the USA are not getting along right now. Google, a US company, has been blocking Russian news since the Ukraine invasion. So, this fine may be more about sending a message than actually asking for money.
