India’s tigers are making a comeback!
Did you know? India has the most tigers in the world! A new study says there are over 3,600 tigers in India. In 2010, there were only 1,706 tigers. Now, there are more than double that number (3,682 as of 2022)!
Even though India has many people and only 18% of the world’s tiger habitat, tigers are doing well. Tourists also visit tiger areas, helping local people earn money.

The reason behind the increase.
Tigers were in trouble because:
- Forests were cut down – Tigers lost their homes.
- Less food – Fewer animals for tigers to eat.
- Poaching – People hunted tigers illegally.
- Fights with people – Tigers and humans had problems living together.
Now, things are better! Thanks to:
- More protected areas for tigers
- More animals for tigers to hunt
- Strong rules to stop poaching
- Helping people live peacefully with tigers
India is doing a great job saving tigers. This helps nature and people. Other countries can learn how to save endangered animals, too.
Importance of protecting wildlife.
It’s important to protect wildlife because animals keep nature in balance. When we save wild animals and their homes, we also save our planet. Without wildlife, ecosystems can fall apart and affect everyone.
