The start of the Maha Kumbh Mela!
The Maha Kumbh Mela has started! It is one of the biggest spiritual events in the world. It began on January 13, 2025, and will continue until February 26, 2025, in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Around 40 crore (400 million) people are expected to come!
On the first day, many people took a holy dip in the Sangam. The Sangam is a special place where three rivers – the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati – meet.
To help everyone, the government has set up 145,000 toilets, 3,000 kitchens, and 500,000 electrical connections!
This year’s Maha Kumbh is even more special because the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, and Saturn will align in a special way.
History of Kumbh Mela.

The Kumbh Mela is very old. It has been celebrated for thousands of years! The story says that Lord Vishnu saved a magical nectar. He spilled drops of it in four places: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain, and Nashik. These four places are where the Kumbh Mela happens.
People believe that taking a dip in the Ganga, at the Kumbh Mela, will wash away their sins and help them break free from the cycle of birth and death.
The economic impact of Kumbh Mela.
The Kumbh Mela is also important for the local economy. It creates jobs for people in transport, food, and hotels.
Many local businesses get more customers, and the government earns money from tourists and visitors.
It’s not just a religious event; it helps the people and the place grow!
