<h5>When was the international magic convention held?</h5><p>Recently, an international magic convention was held in Kochi, Kerala. The convention, Manthra-2, was held on August 13th and 14th of August 2023. On 15th August 2023, a performance was held for the public.</p><p>Magic promotes a sense of wonder among onlookers through elaborate illusions or simply by using one's hand. People watch magic shows to be entertained and to take a break from their daily lives for a few hours.</p><h5>Why was this convention held?</h5><figure class="image"><img src="https://firebasestorage.googleapis.com/v0/b/newsahoot.appspot.com/o/international-magic-convention-held-in-kochi%2FMagic01.jpg?alt=media&amp;token=9ab8385a-a516-4f38-a49c-6157ea1d0634"><figcaption>An image from the performance held on 15th August 2023. This event aimed to provide a platform for magicians to interact and discuss the chances of collaboration among them. The convention also gave the participants a glimpse into different styles of doing the same trick. This helped the participants adopt the style that best suited them.</p><p>The convention also included workshops on how to advertise magicians and their performances to attract more people to watch their shows. This was done to tackle the issue that this form of art is fast becoming extinct and unsustainable as an income source. This is causing many magicians to give up doing what they love for other work.</p><p>There were also discussions on how to keep people interested in magic shows. There were sessions held discussing various forms of magic presentation and costume selection. Many stalls were also installed that sold magic props from all over the world.</p><h5>Why are magic shows losing popularity?</h5><p>Lots of magicians think magic shows are becoming less popular. Many magicians have blamed the decline on too much television use and the rise of other forms of entertainment. The pandemic affected it even more, causing many of them to lose their earnings.</p><p>Many magicians are doing other small jobs to earn a living. A magician on the convention’s organising team suggested that the government support magicians by using magic shows as public awareness programmes. Magicians can also use social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, etc., to display their performances to a global audience.</p><p>So, do you like watching magic shows?
