Ceasefire deal agreed!
After 15 months of fighting, Israel and Hamas have decided to stop the war in Gaza. This war caused many people to lose their lives, homes, and get hurt. Now, people are hopeful that peace will come.
If Israel’s leaders agree, the ceasefire will start on Sunday, 19th January 2025. Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said the deal includes stopping the fighting and freeing people who were held as prisoners. It could also eventually end the war.
US President Joe Biden said the ceasefire would help the Palestinian people, bring families together, and lead to peace. Officials from Qatar, Egypt, and the USA are working hard to make sure the deal is followed.

What’s in the Hamas-Israel ceasefire deal?
The deal has three main parts:
First Part:
- Stop the fighting.
- Free most of the Israeli and Palestinian prisoners and hostages.
- Israeli soldiers will leave some parts of Gaza but stay near the Gaza-Egypt border.
- Food, medicine, and other important supplies will be sent to Gaza.
- People can go back to their homes.
- US hostages will be freed.
- Hospitals and bakeries will be fixed to help people.
Second Part:
- Release the rest of the hostages.
- Israeli soldiers will leave Gaza completely.
- Making peace in the region.
Third Part:
- Rebuild Gaza.
- Return the bodies of hostages to their families.
The second and third parts will be planned after the first part begins. More talks are expected 16 days after the ceasefire starts.

People's reactions to the deal.
People in Gaza are celebrating and hoping for peace. In Tel Aviv, Israelis are also supporting the deal and want the war to stop. Many people around the world are happy that the violence might end.
Update: Israel's PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, said a last-minute disagreement with Hamas caused a delay in the country’s leaders' vote on the ceasefire deal. The vote, planned for 16th January 2025, is now set for 18th January 2025.
