What is the CUET UG exam?
The Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET UG) is an important exam held in India by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). This exam helps students go to college. Many colleges use CUET UG scores for admissions.
The NTA started CUET UG in 2022. Specific changes are expected in this year’s exam pattern.
What changes are being expected?
Since the exam began two years ago, it has been held online or in the Computer Based Test (CBT) format. Reports say now it will be in a hybrid mode.
This will help rural students as they won't have to travel far. We must understand that not every test centre has facilities to hold exams online. So, many candidates have to travel a lot to reach their exam centres.
The UGC chairman, M Jagadesh Kumar, said they'd use OMR sheets for subjects with many students. They're also changing the subject choices. Instead of ten, students can only pick six. They can choose three domain subjects, two languages, and the general test.
This is being done to make the exam procedure easier and avoid problems with the exam centres. Efforts are being made to make the CUET UG 2024 test not too hard to reduce stress for students.
When will the exams be held this year?
The registration procedure for the CUET UG 2024 is set to begin around 19th February 2024. The entrance exam is expected between 15th May 2024 and 31st May 2024. On each exam day, three shifts will be held.
