Its pump turns on by itself when an astronaut begins to urinate.</p><p>After the pee is collected, it is turned into drinking water using a filtration system. Here's how it works:</p><ol><li>First, water is extracted from the urine using pressure to push it through a special filter that removes most impurities.</li><li>Then, another part of the machine takes out the salt and adds good stuff called electrolytes to make the water healthy.</li></ol><p>All of this happens really fast—it takes just five minutes to turn 500 ml of urine into clean water they can drink!
