This breakthrough is helping to address water scarcity in a sustainable way.</p><h5>The Science Behind It.</h5><p>Uravu Labs, a company founded in 2019 by Pardeep, Swapnil Shrivastav, Venkatesh R, and Govinda Balaji, is revolutionising water production. By using atmospheric moisture, Uravu has developed a method to create clean drinking water using 100% renewable energy.</p><p>Uravu's technology involves two main processes: adsorption and desorption. In the adsorption phase, moisture from the air is absorbed by a desiccant material.</p><p>In the desorption phase, this moisture is released by heating the desiccant using solar energy or waste heat.</p><p>The released moisture is then condensed into pure, drinkable water. This cycle repeats continuously, providing a steady supply of water.</p><h5>From Star Wars to Reality.</h5><p>The inspiration for this innovative technology came from an unlikely source: Star Wars. Swapnil Shrivastav, one of Uravu’s founders, saw a device in the movie that could turn air into water.</p><p>Inspired by this, he and his team developed a real-life version of the device. Today, Uravu produces 3,000 litres of water daily and aims to make this technology accessible to areas facing water shortages.</p><h5>Impact on Water Scarcity.</h5><p>Water scarcity is a growing problem globally, and Uravu’s technology offers a sustainable solution.</p><p>By creating water from the air, they’re providing a new, renewable source of drinking water. This innovation is crucial for regions experiencing droughts and water shortages, ensuring access to clean water for all.</p>
