A paralysed man flies a virtual drone!
Imagine flying a drone just by thinking! Sounds like magic, right? Well, scientists made it real for a 69-year-old man who is paralysed.
How did he do it?
The man used a special system called a brain-computer interface (BCI). This system reads brain signals and turns them into actions. Doctors put two tiny devices in his brain to help him control a virtual drone (a drone on a screen).
At first, he practised by thinking about moving his fingers. The system learned what each thought meant. Then, he used these thoughts to fly the drone through rings on a virtual basketball court!
What is a Brain-computer interface?
A BCI is a system that helps people control machines using their thoughts. It is still being tested, but it could help paralysed people move robotic arms or even fly real drones in the future!
Scientists hope this new technology will help more people live independently. Would you like to control a machine with your mind one day?
