What is K-pop?

K-pop is a type of music from South Korea. The lyrics of these songs are in Korean and the music is fun and cheerful. Did you know that K-pop was first made for little children?

K-pop is loved by many people from all over the world! But now, K-pop fans are worried about the health of K-pop stars.

But being famous is awesome, right?

Many times we feel like it would be exciting to be famous! Being a celebrity isn’t easy. People say many mean things about them in newspapers and on the internet. K-pop stars have talked about how this hurts their feelings.

K-pop training companies teach people how to sing and dance like K-pop stars. But they have many strict rules. Students can’t use mobile phones. They are made to practice for many hours without rest.

These stars might look like they are rich, but that isn’t always true.

How much can a company really control a person or group?

Some K-pop stars are told to change the way they look. This is done through an operation called plastic surgery. Plastic surgery can change the shape of one’s nose, lips, etc. This is done so K-pop stars can look more handsome or beautiful.

Companies also want their stars to be very thin. These companies carefully control their diet. Sometimes, stars are only allowed to eat one meal in a day! This makes them weak.

Does this point to a bigger problem?

Yes, it does. Getting surgeries to look more attractive and eating very less to remain thin is not healthy.

Companies should not control the lives of these celebrities. They are people, just like you and I. They should also be able to live their lives the way they want.
