Is milk really a necessity?
Milk is a white liquid that is produced by female mammals to feed their young. Much like humans, cows and buffalo also produce milk. Buffalo and cow milk are excellent sources of nutrition for humans.
People across the world believe that drinking buffalo or cow milk is the only way to get strong bones. New research suggests that milk is not necessary for humans after their infant years if other healthy food is eaten every day.
Is milk good for everyone?
Milk contains lactose, which gives some people stomach ache or other problems. This condition is known as lactose intolerance. It is believed that many people are lactose intolerant. Lactose intolerant people should not drink milk or eat milk products.
All nutrients which humans get from milk can be found in meat, seafood, vegetables, and fruits. Beans, eggs, almonds, chickpeas, broccoli, yoghurt, and cheese can be eaten instead of milk.
People can also consider shifting to milk that does not contain lactose, such as soy milk, almond milk, etc. Have a discussion with your doctor before you stop drinking milk.
