What do we know about the world’s largest spherical structure?
The MSG Sphere is the name of the world’s largest spherical structure. It is located in Las Vegas in the US. It looks like a gigantic [[spaceship::A type of vehicle that carries people in space.]] from [[sci-fi::Sci-fi is the short form of science-fiction, a genre of books, movies and TV shows where writers use science to imagine different worlds. For example, Star Wars, Iron Man, etc]] movies.
Reports say the structure has the world's highest-[[resolution::It is used to describe how clearly images appear on a computer or television screen.]] wraparound [[Light Emitting Diode::A type of device that emits lights when an electric current passes through it.]] (LED) screen. It also has 1.2 million small LEDs on the outside. These LEDs can show different pictures and images.
On 4th July 2023, it was lit up for the first time during the [[Fourth of July::A national holiday in the USA honouring the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.]] celebrations. The exterior of the Sphere is illuminated with random or seasonal animations.
What will the Sphere be used for?
A famous architecture firm called Populous has built the Sphere. It will host various events like concerts, cinema, and sporting events like boxing and mixed martial arts. It has a seating capacity of 18,000 people!
The people attending any shows in the Sphere can view their favourite artists perform live while surrounded by a LED screen. The screen will show special animations and close-up shots of the performers.
But wait, there's more! The Sphere has 1,60,000 speakers all over the place. These speakers make the sound extra amazing. They also have special things like vibrating seats and wind machines to make the experience even more fun.
When is the Sphere scheduled to open?
It is scheduled to open on the 29th September 2023. The first thing happening there will be a series of 25 concerts by the famous band U2. The series will continue until mid-December.
The Sphere will also show a special movie called "Postcard From Earth," made by Darren Aronofsky. This film will take the audience on a visual tour of the planet.
