<h5>Oh no! What has happened in Kerala?</h5><p>Recently, Kerala faced a huge disaster! As of this writing, three big landslides hit Wayanad district because of heavy rain. Many families are worried about their loved ones.</p><p>In Wayanad, 45 relief camps have been set up, accommodating 3,069 people. The Kerala government has set up two control rooms for people to call for help. Two numbers have been provided: 9656938689 and 8086010833.</p><p>The army sent 200 soldiers and a medical team to help. Two helicopters were also sent to help. More rain is coming, so everyone is staying alert and ready to help!</p><h5>What’s a landslide?</h5><p>A landslide happens when rocks, soil, or debris slide down a hill. It can happen because of lots of rain, earthquakes, or even volcanoes. Sometimes, when people cut down trees, landslides can happen more easily.</p><p>It’s difficult to know exactly when a landslide will occur, so it’s difficult to warn people. Experts watch the weather and the land to try to predict them.</p><h5>Prevention and precautionary measures.</h5><p>Several steps can be taken to help prevent landslides:</p><p><u>Inspect at-risk areas:</u> Officials must identify and fix risk-prone areas.<br><u>Plant trees:</u> Trees help hold the soil in place with their roots.<br><u>Avoid risky locations:</u> Do not build houses near steep hills.<br><u>Stay alert during rain:</u> Listen for strange sounds like moving dirt or rolling rocks.
