<h5>About the ‘one nation, one election‘ plan.</h5><p>Elections are super important because they help us choose our leaders! In India, we have two main types of elections: Lok Sabha elections, which help pick leaders for the central government, and state assembly elections, which choose leaders for each state.</p><p>In 2023, a team was created to consider the "One Nation, One Election (ONOE)" plan. This plan has some <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.newsahoot.com/articles/the-government-s-one-nation-one-election-plan">advantages and disadvantages</a>.</p><h5>The Union Cabinet accepts the proposal.</h5><p>The Union Cabinet approved the ONOE plan and has accepted the team’s report, suggesting holding Lok Sabha and state elections together.</p><p>The ruling party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), thinks this is great because it could save time and money. However, opposition parties don’t like it and say it might not work well.</p><h5>What’s next for the ONOE?</h5><p>An ONOE bill will be introduced in Parliament in December. But just introducing it and getting the Union cabinet's approval doesn’t guarantee it will pass.</p><p>Before a bill can become law, it has to go through a few steps:</p><p><u>Talk About It:</u> The bill will be discussed in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.</p><p><u>Get Votes:</u> It needs lots of support! Two-thirds of the Parliament must agree.</p><p><u>President's Signature:</u> Finally, the president has to sign it.</p><p>Let’s see if everyone can work together to make this bill a law!
