Only your friend can unlock the box and read your message.</p><p>No one else can read what you have written. This is how end-to-end encryption works.&nbsp;</p><p>Only you and your friend (or the person you are chatting with) can see the messages when you chat on WhatsApp. Not even the government can read them.</p><p>WhatsApp says this feature protects people’s privacy and is essential as everyone should be able to discuss things privately.</p><p>The government says they will only need the information to track people who have done bad things. For example, if someone starts a riot using WhatsApp, the government can track the person and punish them.&nbsp;</p><p>But, more discussions are needed to find a solution.</p>
