What is happening between India and Canada?
A few months back, a Khalistani leader was shot dead in Canada. Canada's Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau [[accused::To say that someone is guilty of doing something.]] the Indian government of having a role in killing the leader, who was a Canadian citizen.
In protest, the Canadian government [[expelled::To officially make someone leave a country.]] a senior Indian [[diplomat::An official who is appointed to manage difficult situations skillfully.]] recently. He claimed to have discussed this with Indian PM Narendra Modi during the G20 summit and asked for help.
What is India’s response to the accusation?
India disagreed with what Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, said. India's [[Ministry of External Affairs::The government ministry that is responsible for maintaining relationships with foreign countries.]] (MEA) called Trudeau's accusations silly.
The Indian government also expelled a senior Canadian diplomat from the country.The Khalistan movement began in the 1940s, during India’s independence.
The group wants a separate Sikh state in Punjab (remember, many Punjabis are against this and support India).The Indian government is against this.
India asked many countries, including Canada, to take action against its members staying in their countries.All of this has made the diplomatic relationship between India and Canada worse.

Think about your friends. Imagine they're like different countries. Just like people, countries can have different ideas and beliefs. Diplomatic relations are like friendships between countries.
It helps maintain peace among the nations.Diplomatic relations mean visiting each other, solving problems nicely, respecting each other's beliefs and rules, etc.
Countries need this to stay peaceful and grow. Nobody wants to fight because it only makes things worse.But sometimes, countries don't get along for different reasons, like political differences, disagreements, accusations related to something, etc.
When this happens, countries can bring their diplomats back home, cut off ties, or stop [[trade::The buying and selling of goods between countries.]]. This isn't good and can hurt other countries too.So, let's hope India and Canada can talk and become friends again.
