One such tournament is the Euro Championship, played between European countries.
What is Euro Championship?
Euro Championship or simply Euro is a football tournament played between European countries. It is the second-most important tournament for European countries, and winning it is considered a matter of pride. The women’s Euro was held recently in 2022, and England defeated Germany to clinch the title.
What was England’s road to victory?
A total of 16 teams were divided into four groups. England was part of group A along with three other countries. England defeated all three of them to reach the next stage, where they beat Spain to reach the semi-finals. They beat Sweden in the semi-finals and then beat Germany in the finals to win the Euro Championship.
Who were the star players from England?
England managed to win because of the stellar performance of its players. Beth Mead scored the most goals in the tournament and was awarded the Golden Boot (given to the player who scores the most goals) and was also declared the Player of the Tournament. Along with Mead, Alessia Russo and Sarina Wiegman, England’s coach, also helped England to victory.
