Cartoon Network- a fun channel for kids!
Cartoon Network (CN) is a TV channel that began in 1992 and became very popular with kids.
Back then, kids didn't have the Internet to watch cartoons, so they watched their favourite shows on TV. The channel showed many popular shows, like Dexter's Laboratory, Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, etc.
Today, the channel still shows cartoons that are funny and adventurous and teach the value of friendship.

#RIPCartoonNetwork
Recently, the trend #RIPCartoonNetwork became popular on social media. Many people used it because they thought CN might close.
This happened after a video showed two cartoon characters talking about CN's problems and that many people in the animation industry had lost their jobs.
The video ended by asking people to share their favourite CN shows with #RIPCartoonNetwork. This made people think the channel was being shut down.
Is CN really shutting down?
Even though people are talking about it on X and other social media, Cartoon Network has yet to say if it's closing. Still, the channel’s craze has declined.
The problem with CN!
With easier internet access, kids like watching their favourite shows online because they can watch them anytime.
There are many streaming services now with lots of shows, so CN isn’t as popular now.
Kids today like shows that grab their attention quickly. Long shows with slow storylines, like the old CN shows, aren’t as popular.
Also, CN hasn’t made any new hit shows. All of these have led to lower viewership. Running a TV channel is expensive, and fewer viewers means less money, which could make the channel shut down.
