A special award
The 2025 Nobel Prize in [[Literature::Stories, poems, and other written works that people create and read.]] went to LászlĂł Krasznahorkai, the Peace Prize went to MarĂa Corina Machado, and the Prize in Economic Sciences went to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt.
All of them did important work that made the world smarter, fairer, or more peaceful.
The Nobel Prize in Literature
László Krasznahorkai is a writer from Hungary. He won the prize for his special way of showing people’s feelings and the confusion of modern life. His sentences are very long, but they take readers deep into his characters’ minds.
The Nobel Committee said his books show “the beauty hidden in confusion.”
This award reminds us that literature is not only for fun. It helps people think deeply, feel emotions, and understand others better.
The Nobel Peace Prize
The Peace Prize was given to MarĂa Corina Machado from Venezuela. She worked peacefully to protect democracy, which means people have the right to choose their leaders freely.Â
She spoke against unfair elections and asked citizens to stay calm but strong. Even when she was banned or [[threatened::In danger of being harmed or disappearing.]], she never gave up.
Her courage teaches us that peace is not just about the end of war; it is also about justice, freedom, and respect for everyone.
The Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences
Three economists, namely Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt, shared this prize. They explained how [[innovation::A new idea, method, or invention that improves something or makes it different from before.]], or creating new ideas and inventions, helps [[economies::The way a country or place earns and uses money and resources.]] grow.Â
Their idea of “creative destruction” means that when new things replace old ones, like smartphones replacing typewriters, it helps society move forward, even if it means change in the short-term.
Interestingly, this prize is not one of the original Nobels made by Alfred Nobel in 1895. It was added in 1968 by Sweden’s central bank, called Sveriges Riksbank, to honour him. That’s why it is called the “Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.”
Looking ahead
These Nobel winners show that books, peace, and new ideas can all change the world. Their work reminds us that learning, kindness, and creativity can help make our future brighter.
Quick revision
The Nobel Prizes in Literature, Peace, and Economic Sciences were awarded recently.
Awardees were honored for powerful writing, peaceful defense of democracy, and explaining economic growth.
The Economics Prize was not one of Alfred Nobel’s original awards; it was added later in 1968 by Sweden’s central bank in his memory.
