Who is Greta Thunberg?

Greta Thunberg is an environmental [[activist::A person who strongly believes in a cause and wants to change things for a better future.]]. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on January 3, 2003. She was eight years old when she first learned about climate change. She slowly began to change her habits to reduce climate change.
How did Greta raise awareness about climate change?
In September 2018, Thunberg did not go to school for three weeks and sat outside the Swedish [[parliament::A group of people that make the laws of a country.]] to spread awareness about climate change. Although she sat alone on the first day, with each passing day, more people began to join her in her fight against climate change.
Later, she continued to attend school on all days except Fridays when she would [[strike::To refuse to work until someone's needs are met.]] and tell people about climate change. These days were called “Fridays for Future”.
Hundreds and thousands of students started “Fridays for Future” in their own countries and skipped school on Fridays.
Since then, Thunberg has been recognised as a leader who has worked very hard to bring climate change to the attention of world leaders. In May 2019, she released a book containing her speeches called “No One Is Too Small to Make a Difference”.
Why is Greta fighting climate change?
Thunberg understands that if world leaders do not take any action to combat climate change today, they will not be able to do anything about it tomorrow. This is because the climate would have changed permanently by then.
It will be too late to save the planet by the time she or people her age become world leaders. She has discussed this more in a [[documentary::A film or video that educates people about something.]] called “I Am Greta”.
