Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt

Steps to make:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients. Add milk gradually.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  8. Once cooled, frost with your favourite frosting or enjoy plain.
